Intro to Fitness For Plus Size Athletes

Tired of feeling like the only person who looks like you in the gym? Yea, me too, which is why I'm hosting four monthly workshops exclusively for us.    As a 250 LBS fitness instructor, I've had to work through isolation, guilt and shame at the gym; let's work together so you, too, are well equipped to handle these things.  Each workshop will be a combo of exercise and education about one of the following topics: upper body, core & back, lower body.

  • 60 minutes
  • Minimum: 6 students (no maximum)
  • ALL body types welcome
  • Target audience: novice students with little (or zero) flexibility experience
  • Required skills: absolutely none!

FLEX THE FUNK

If you're joints need some WD-40, you belong in this workshop! Flexibility training is vital to joint mobility, muscular balance and everyday comfort. Stevie Wonder and Jill Scott will take you on a soulful groove to improve elasticity. You're guaranteed to leave this session feeling more limber then ever . . . and finally learning all the worlds to A Long Walk.

Stretching at the Office 

A cubical lifestyle can wreck havoc on the neck, lower back and hip complex. Learn non-sweaty stretches you can do in a confined space with zero equipment. This workshop is perfect for anybody sitting for long periods of time (aka America).

  • Target audience: (1) keyboard warriors (2) anybody doing physically repetitive work
  • Required skills: absolutely none!

Learn what it really takes to start, and sustain, a career in fitness.  I'll give you a realistic breakdown of which certifications & insurance you need, InstaMarketing 101, how to get hired and how much income to expect.  All while we crush some beers at Covenhaven in Crown Heights.
